Mountain Biking in Arenal Costa Rica: Great Choices!
Mountain Bike Local Tours (Volcano Ride)
We’ll take a moderate-level guided ride near the base of Volcano Arenal and along Lake Arenal. Get excellent views of volcano and surrounding jungle and farmlands.
Tour logistics:
1) We pick you up at your hotel and head out to the starting point on an old road connecting Arenal Dam with the main entrance to Arenal Volcano National Park. Your guide will get you set up with your suspension bike, helmet and gloves, go over the safety talk and then we take off on a very scenic, easy-going ride.
2) This ride takes us from the small Costa Rican town of El Castillo. Along the ride we’re always on the lookout for howler monkeys, exotic, tropical birds like toucans, oropendulas and kingfishers.
3) You’ll be traveling a distance of about12 to 26 kms (8 to 16 miles) and gain about 85 mts (280 ft) on secondary gravel roads.
4) We’ll stop for a snack along the banks of Lake Arenal
1 . Arenal Volcano Base Tour: Mountain Biking
Beautiful mountain bike ride near the base of Arenal Volcano and along scenic Arenal Lake. Suitable for moderate-level riders. Bike tour is 4-5 hours with breaks.

2. Arenal Local Nature Tour: Mountain Biking
This second mountain bike option is a great opportunity to explore the back roads for easy-going rides to explore the Arenal Volcano area. The bike tour includes a stop at a local nature reserve and time to bathe in natural swimming hole. Bike tour is 6.5 hours

Notes about children:
The smallest bike is about 50cm - the helmet can be adjusted to fit a small head, but it's a challenging ride - recommended for no younger than 13 unless a good rider.
